Rear diff front mount perished (Replaced all three)
Bought with HGF (no compression) rebuilt with latest gasket and oil rail
O/S CDL motor packed up, tried cleaning but ended up replacing (£64ish)
1 rear wheel bearing noisy (both rears replaced )
Clutch slave cylinder bracket snapped (Replaced for £6 or £9)
HDC failed (wire fell off microswitch terminal) (soldered and fixed for free)

Considering mileage (bought at 98K for £550) has not cost much at all to put right.

Freelander wheelbase is 100" according to my tape measure if anything major goes I may consider a body swap onto a RRC rolling chassis!!

Manifold replaced
E/W Switches both
Rear Door Lock Replaced
Rear Window Micro switch in hardtop thing
Passinger CDL servo Replaced.
Digital Clock replaced
Fuel Gauge inside tank ( Sender )

Oh and drop links both sides
track rod ends both sides
front shocks both
O/S Cv Joint

I put them down to ware and tair..... ???
they can go on any car...
at the end of the day the car is nearly 10 years old.

Had my TD4 for a year now and had a couple of bits done under warranty in the first couple of weeks after I had the car (as you tend to with any used car as the previous owner leaves things before PX-ing!).

Since then I've spent out on the following:

2 x front tyres
1 x brake light switch (for the famous orange lights!)
1 x brake light bulb
1 x set of driver's door trim clips (to stop rattle)
1 x driver's door check strap (another rattle!)

Total cost about £225 of which nearly £200 was for the tyres! I've also spent about £250 on accessories but can't blame Land Rover for that I suppose!

Cheers

2004 td4 auto 45k
MAF Sensor - replaced with ronbox pierburg combo (still idles rough but ron assisting)
Lake in boot
GPS Aerial fault

Other than tyres, brakes and servicing thats it.
I'm still considering changing it tho - £400 + tax is ridiculous

But consider how much it will cost you to change? I can bet that changing cars will cost you a whole heap more than the extra £20 a month the RFL will cost you unless you are planning on downgrading your wheels massively!

Cheers

Rog,

Most of yours is consumables - so you're not doing too bad!!

Steve

Y reg TD4 ESD, owned for the last 20,000 miles and has had a few minor issues.

Boot door lock sometimes won't relatch, but a little thump sorts it every time. Top radiator hose split, replaced by myself, so no biggie. Heating never runs very hot, but that could just be the car. Few rattles from trim, turn stereo up. Slight leak if I really fill up with fuel, dont brim tank. Amber engine management light came on after I ran out of fuel 18 months ago, thats a bit annoying, must get that sorted one day.

Really nothing at all.

Good point, I am considering downgrading to something a bit more economical simply because of the mileage I do, even at 32-34mpg the td4 is costing me a fortune - strangely though this time last year it didn't! Thanks Gordon, Darling etc!

tis a sticky yer moaner

Sirus - wind yer neck in, ya moron! It wasnt at the time of post 28.

Just to point out to the mass reading public, that wind your neck in is a 'figure of speech' as in 'dry your eyes'.

Having never met Sirus it was by no means, intended as a detriment to his character or username ;) :)

Sirus stop spamming my threads! :p ;)

Looking good folks, thanks for the replies so far.

The 2L L-series diesel has come up trumps.

Keep them votes coming.

Thanks
