Freelander CD Player Code - Visteon Model

Hi.

I recently replaced the stereo on my 52 Freelander and removed the standard Land Rover Visteon CD Player for the car. I have kept the player in case I sell the car on in the future and want to pop it back in, however the previous owner did not have the code for the stereo and as such I don't know the keycode for the stereo. Is there any way I can retreive the code, either from Land Rover or the dealership of original sale? Do they even keep these records? I can proove ownership of the vehicle if required.

Shame to waste the stereo.

i would expect that the dealer my be able to get the code with the radio serial number or the car reg or the car vin. though they may charge you.

failing that then you can get it decoded at a lot of places. I know of one or two in yorkshire.

Thanks for the reply. I did find a website claiming they could do it from the serial number for Visteon stereos, but not sure if this is a scam or not. The website in question is VISTEON CAR RADIO CODES INSTANT ONLINE SERVICE if anyone has used these guys before?

if you search through the threads about radio codes, there was a link in one thread to some downloadable software.

didn't use it myself, but I remember it was there somewhere.

When I needed the code for a radio in my last Range rover, I drove It to a main dealer, gave them the registration number and they printed the number from thier computer for nothing.
