if it wasn't originally grey then of course it won't but it'll do a much better job of turning a grey looking (originally black) water/sun faded black bumper back to looking original far better than any of those "back to black" products mentioned above

Clean and polish the car first - I use Autoglym products

The polish that gets on the pastic trim leaves white marks.
These are easily removed using Silicone Spray (from Halfrauds)

The same Silicone spray - sprayed onto a lint free rag - then brings the plastic up to a luverly finish.

Even the Grey bumpers look good after this.

if there grey there grey and thats it but a very good product is wurth buumper gel all the main merc garges use it and its great stuff

how much does an average Autoglym bottled product cost ?

I have tried Black Trim Wax and it looked good but as soon as it rained it all come off (3 hours of my life wasted)...

Someone suggested Boiled linseed oil, so I tried that but it just made the bumbers shiny and not black.

Has anyone tried Shoe Scuff Cover??

Any ideas anyone??

I had a friend who tried peanut butter on his bumbers and every dog that walked past when it was parked up used to lick his car!!

Another vote for linseed oil here...

I did mine with 5 permanent markers 3 years ago they look great,never had to touch them up again.

this intruiges me Wulf, you literally coloured in the grey bumpers black??? hope you didnt go over the lines

I used a cheap Simoniz bumper black. Comes in a bottle and I poor it into a small bucket and apply it thickly & gloopy with a paint brush everytime I wash the car. With a brush it takes about 5 minutes to do. The first few times you will get streaks in it when it rains but after a few coatings the dye is buried into the plastic.

A warning though, applying it so thickly watch you don't rub up against the bumpers (it will leave a black mark on you, even when dry). Now my bumpers always look brand new and I just top it up every couple of months. It's also like vandal paint in asda car park, see people who have parked too close to you slide their arse along your bumper to squeeze in and they have a black smear. Love it.

Also once you have the desired dye level, any old silicone spray such as an autoglym plastic spray will keep them looking tip top, and form a barrier over them meaning they only need rinsing with a hose when dirty.
