Default Freelander abs reset

I'm Sorry if this comes up all the time but...

Got the dreaded 3 warning lights lit up on the dash and wondered if anyone knew the name of any software i could download that I could reset them with myself? I dont know if they are pre OBD or what but I cant find any software that will read off codes let alone put out the lights.

"The Three Amigos"

Often an inidcatinof a damaged ABS sensor, or simply that the wiring under the gearstick gaitor leading to the HDC switch has come adrift.

As I had the same problem I hace found that a lot of places can read but not reset the codes. My problem was the front right sensor which was not picking up the signal from the wheel. If the lights are on constantly (the HDC will come on when you pull away) the ABS system has found what it believes to be a permanent or serious/dangerous fault and will not reset untill repairs have been undertaken. If you measure the resistance of each sensor (front ones have the conectors in the engine bay, left hand is behind the battery) you should get approx 1 - 1.5Ohms. If that's OK yiou can renove each sensor, give them a good clean and replace into the hub. The sensors are just a push fit and should come out with a little GENTLE persuasion. Do not hit or strike the sensors. Once they are clean reinsert them pushing them in as far as they can go. If they were dirty or had moved (possibly from hitting a kerb/going over a speedbump too fast/stalling/changing a wheel etc) the sensor will not pick up the magnetic signal from the phonic wheel.
Checking this in conjunction with the brake pedal and gearstick switch should solve the problem privided you haven't lost a sensor/ABS unit etc.

George.

Cheers george... my lights are on constantly I think, if I do find a problem with a sensor and manage to fix it, will the lights go off themselves?

Yes they will go out. The Freelander has a system where the module needs to sense a voltage from each hub before it clears any faults. This means that the lights will not extinguish until the car reaches approx 8mph and a voltage is induced into each sensor, that's why on a correctly functioning Freelander ABS system the ABS light stays illuminated until the car drives off.

Hey, Freelander owners with the 3 Amigos issue. On my 2001 td4 the dreaded 3 lights all come on together within a couple of kms of leaving home and then stay on until i turn the engine off. The speedo and rev counter seem to work fine. Could this be something simple hopefully ?

Hello
Also having the problem with the 3 lights coming on after driving few miles or so. They stay on until i turn off engine. Is this linked to ABS sensors under bonnet? Cheers
