Freelander abs reset

Dodgy repairs to Freelanders to make them pass an mot when the driver knows there's something not working or unsafe about their Freelander goes against the grain of the forum. We're here to share the love of our Freelanders and to keep them in good working order. That doesn't include hiding warning lamps or frigging the abs if it's broken.

Rant over.

Well after running fine for months, ( all I did was twist the drivers side abs sensor clockwise a bit) I jet washed under the hippo wheels brakes and all. Now my amigos are back only this time they wont go away....Tried every thing. All I can thing of now is pulling the drive shafts to replace the reluctor rings........I need a scan doing......anyone near the manchester area with a scanner that will do the abs?

Where do you plug in on the hippo for abs diags? As there are a few odbii looking ports on mine.....one under the center console and one in the engine bay near the coolant expansion tank.

if you twisted the sensor you might have made the air gap to large and now you have 3 lights.... if it wasnt broke you should have left it lol

I twisted the sensor to get it working, worked for over 6 months, jet washed car now its fooked again.......I've had them all out and cleaned again......I think I'm gona get it scanned, might give me an idea of which corner of the hippo to put my efforts into......

It's likely water has got into the sensor. It might fix itself once it's heated up a few times. I'd be changing the sensors myself.

Done that, I have a spare sensor to swap out, the old ones read correct and working, the ohms are correct and if I flick something metal in front of the sensor I get the voltage spike....all 4 sensors have been replaced too, like I say I've done every thing bar changing the reluctor rings, big job just to get the bolts and hub nut off.......can anyone recommed a place that can scan abs in Manchester area?

C1220 is the accelerometer or G sensor. Rave description includes it in both early and later systems.

A good code reader is the way forward.

Plenty of instances of replacement ABS modulators to clear the three amigos.

Also sometimes cracked reluctor rings appear OK until shaft removal. Often though they will trigger unnecessary abs activation when slowing for junctions but you don't report that.

Thanks for this, 2001 1.8 ES 5 door, just failed mot with 3 amigos lit up, srs airbag light now sorted! (£140)...anyway, after getting the car code read this morning to find out what sensor was at fault, and seeing the stuff here, and the very helpful picture :lvgay-098:i had a quick look, undid and wd-40`d the connector and dash board is now clear!!! :clap2:

I have put up with this little annoying fault with the HD light fault, I think its about time I got one but what is the correct switch for a 05MY.
Thanks
colin..

Hopefully somebody has had this problem, I ran my freelander with all 4 wheels off the ground to identify a transmission fault ( which I did, now repaired! ) but now I have the 3 amigos, Ive checked the wiring to see if was stretched when the suspension was fully extended but it was perfectly fine. Anybody got any thoughts?

I'm Sorry if this comes up all the time but...

Got the dreaded 3 warning lights lit up on the dash and wondered if anyone knew the name of any software i could download that I could reset them with myself? I dont know if they are pre OBD or what but I cant find any software that will read off codes let alone put out the lights.
i know its old post but anyone got the place that sells the reluctor rings as they have a video on using bottle jack to push hub off after disc etc removed so can fit new reluctor rings as i cant find i looked on utube can't find it i know its a uk company just need video to watch if anyone can help!
