i have a freelander 2, how do i reset the service info on the main message centre. i have just given the car a service.

Not from experience, just a cut and paste from the freel2.com web site:-

1. Insert key in ignition.
2. Press AND HOLD the trip reset button.
3. While still pressing the trip reset button, turn on the ignition. DO NOT START THE ENGINE. Just turn the ignition on.
4. Keep pressed the trip reset button until word "Service" will flash on the instrument cluster. (about 5 seconds).
5. After a while (no more than 5 seconds) the word "Service" will remain on.
6. Release the reset button.
7. Now, by pressing the reset button, the words DIST, DATE and END are cycled on display.
8. If you want to reset the service distance, cycle until DIST is shown. If you want to reset the time-to-service, cycle until DATE is shown.
9. When the desired item is selected, press and KEEP pressed the reset button until the word RESET is shown.
Do this for both items or only for the one you desire. (I've did it only for time)
10. When you've done, cycle until END appears and then press and HOLD reset button until the display will now show the current (and newly reset) distance and time until next inspection.
11. Turn off the ignition.
12. All done!

Sorry but this does not work, my 2011 Freelander service warning can not be reset either by this method or by plugging in a laptop with the correct software. The only way to get the service message reset is to take to an official Landrover dealer or specialist and pay for it on top of the service I have just had done. This is ridiculous and I think illegal as it it creating a monopoly, I am extremely upset with Landrover and after owning three from new this is going to be the last.

Sorry but on 2011 models this does not work, Landrover are trying to force you to take your car to a main dealer for service as this is the only way you will get it reset

On 2011MY. If your refering to the 'Take you car to dealer' message or whatever the exact wording is that appears on the IPK.

That isnt your service announcer. Thats still done with the usual FL2 countdown indicator, it is actually your Oil Wear indicator, which is why the above method wont work afaik.

Not that it helps any :p

I have just done it on my freelander 2 2008. But I can't change the dist or date. After I chose the End it show 24100km and 365 day.

It can be done through the dash on 07-09 models. On 2010 or later, it needs to be switched off via the diagnostic machine. Most independent specialists will have the equipment to do this for you, and most will do it for a few quid or a box of biscuits :)

it is not illegal and it is not a monopoly. Independants can deal with this problem too, and it does not prevent the vehicle from functioning.
