Also, by virtue of the very fact they need to have a supercharged nitrous version fitted in the first place to acheive the same acceleration.Sort of reminds me of a Ferrari vs Ariel Atom

Just done the sums...

All in all, and not including labour, it has cost just short of £1500 to get to this point.

Though this includes a full set of Superpro bushes and rear wishbone Bushes, new clutch, new timing belt, Prop CV boot, oil/filters

Still, it's very difficult to walk past it to get into the Disco 3. New toy syndrome is still in full effect

Not too shabby if you count a Freelander with a blown engine and a 1.8t would only set you back £500 - £1000 ish depending on condition and year.
I know you already had the engine and Freelander so how much of this was down to making it work in a different car?

I paid £600 for a 52 plate 1.8 with head gasket issues. Little more than I would have liked to pay, but it was still taxed and MOTD, new VCU, 2 new tyres, and a decent spec. Drove it up the road

Paid £600 for the 75 Turbo, with clutch issues. Taxed and MOTd again. Drove it up the road.

ECU and remap was the big expense, but it was needed. And it was going to be mapped anyway, so may as well have been done at the same time...

Bushes, clutch, pipework etc all came to about £500

4 tyres set me back another £250

Will need a new set of VCU bearings, as they (or something) is banging underneath

Ah, you bought the whole car. I guess it is still worth scrap value so if you can get a couple of hundred for it and the old engine I wasn't too far wrong at £1000. New VCU is a big bonus, mine is seized solid so running Mondo mode for now.
I did something similar for a project last year, my son and I bought dead RX8 and an Audi 1.8T to pinch the engine (his idea not mine) All went well as we stripped bits out but suddenly his interest waned when he saw the complications involved in fitting the engine. Needless to say it didn't happen, the Audi is still lying in bits waiting to be dumped and the engine never got fitted. At least you were working with an engine, chassis and gearbox made for each other. Not that I am belittling what you did as it was still a big job and I am well impressed.

That was why I went ahead with it. Bolted straight onto the engine mounts and bellhousing

Got £50 back for the Rover, as it was missing an engine. Better than nothing!

I was able to sell the RX8 for almost what we paid for it but we also had to pay for it being collected as it was a non runner so probably lost £130 all together. We have been selling the Audi in bits and got £75 so far for the bumper and headlights so just another £525 to get our cash back on it,

Great news !! Always good to see LZ Freelanders in print.

LRO asked to feature my modded V6 they saw it at Billing 8 years ago but after 2 years of changing dates and new "features" editors, they eventually just asked me to send a few pics in and put it in the "Readers Rovers" section.
Still, it was better than nothing.
Can't wait to see yours...........

Little update.

2,500 miles done now. Driveline is still holding up, not blown anything up, despite a few brutal traffic light GP's with the local chav's. Surprised quite a few people

Is it just me or is something a little cock eyed here?

Bonnet is a little out of alignment, and there were tools on the slam panel. All been sorted.now

LOL, thought it was the stuff in my glass makin me see things.
Lookin good though, makes a big difference. Wot are the 4 holes either side of the number plate for.

Holes were for some sort of A bar...

Should have machine guns sticking out of 'em to shoot up trattors.
