Default Freelander 1.8 exhaust front pipe to sump

I recently purchased a 1998 Freelander 1.8 to use over the winter as my wife uses the TD4 most of the time.

While giving it a check over I noticed that the exhaust downpipe has a bracket welded to it that looks like its attached to the sump however there are no bolts holding it on, RAVE doesn't mention the bolts - anyone know if the exhaust should be attached to the sump or left loose like it is

There 2 bolts to sump on the early 1.8's

M8 x 15mm should do the job

I look after two older Freelanders and found out the thread in the sump was stripped and both. Also needed large washers to stop the bolt head slipping into the hole in the exhaust bracket
