Floating on air???

Not yet, I have found everything I need for my Discovery 1 including a 3 level programmable height system, air bags, shocks valve blocks, solonoids etc, but as it is looking ever so likely that I will never get the Discovery registered here I am currently looking at Freelanders.

I have seen full Macs for most Jap and Euro boxes and as theFL runs Macs I fugured easy swap???

It has always been ground clearance that hindered the FL off road, air suspension seems to me to be the easiest way to achieve offroad ride height when needed but maintaining normal road ride height when not off road, much like the current range of Land Rovers.

$2,500 = £1556

Not so bad when you convert it down to GBPs, but looking more at the flexibility of converting to air.

Having previously had a D3 brand new I know how the EAS benefitted that car, being at normal road height for the highway and then lifted for a spot of laning, dropping to the floor to help my gran get in was a really versatile feature.

I have e-mailed a couple companies in the US where it seems air suspension has the biggest market, although there are a few companies doing it in the UK too.

Really hoping to have been beaten to it so lifecan be easier but I can also do the donkey work too if it helps others to move to air suspension. :car:

looks to be a one stop shop full kit, no leg work to do :D

Will see what happens at the end of the month, if the Discovery is still not on Netherlands plates then we will be buying a freelander to play with, and after finding this little gem I am almosthoping the Disco gets scrapped

With you raising the subject of air suspension, I have to admit it sounds good. I'd like a lift because of drift wood on the beach, but I don't fancy the idea of running the car permanently with its driveshafts and steering geometry at angles they're not suppose to be at. The ability to lift 'on demand' is quite appealing. But using your thinking US$2,500 = NZ$3,200 and it doesn't stack up - it would be cheaper to run 2 cars 1 wiith a permanent lift!

Don't forget to modify the chassis rails though same as fitting a fixed lift kit!

Mate of mine works for a company that is now an air suspension dealer so Icould have a chat to him next time I see him. (They mostly deal with ambulances but are branching out).

Thing is I like the look of a lift so I would be running around with it lifted all the time! I think it would be cheaper and more sensible for me just to fit a spacer lift! :)

If I was worried for the cost of my motoring I would be driving a smart car or a Ford KA for cheap tax and fuel economy, not spending €8,000 to date on a 1992 Discovery ;)

It would be much more fun to have something that no one else has, and the novelty factor of being able to show it off is quite appealing too :lalala: at all the ney sayers.....

I looked into getting a Nissan Leaf for work, but the cost of buying, even second hand puts the break even point at 6-7 years for me.

I'm staying with my little Freelander.
