Hello to everyone
Borrowed my inlaws 1.8 freelander for a couple of weeks while i got the terrano back on the road,i have serviced it for them and am trying to sort out one or 2 probs one of them being the head lights keep going dim then bright seems to be linked to rpm wondered if this was a common prob the srs light keeps popping up 2 then going out last week it blew the fuel pump fuse also lol did ya ever do a favour for anyone and wished ya hadnt:rolleyes:,was wondering if these probs could be alternator related dunno has this prob happened before?
thx in advance

Sounds like th alternator regulation isn't.

Put a volt meter across the battery. Sound be around the 12V region with the engine off (for a good 10 minutes before) and should be around the 13.8V mark with the engine running. Try reving the engine and the voltage should not vary by more than 0.5V. If you see it wobbling around all over the place then the alternator is the first port of call.

Agree with Darmain it sounds very much alternator related.
If it's any consolation I doubt very much that your servicing caused the problem.....Unless of course you managed to spill something on the alternator??? (TD4 oil filter is very close to the alt - not sure about 1.8.

Thx for the replys disovered tonight its defo the alternator wasnt showing up on my multi meter as it appears to be the same as the alternator F@@ked,i only wish i had caused the prob servicing it but im afraid it came to me needing a good service with all its faults warts and all;):D
