FBH only kicks in when the temperature drops below 5 deg c (I think). Its a great peice of kit taking a small amount of fuel and burning it in a heater hense fbh (sirry couldnt resist).

The fbh warms the engine water jacket and as a result, also produces warm air into the cabin long before the normal engine heater would be up to speed.

If the fbh hasnt been used for a while, you get clouds of smoke out of the front near side bumper with lots of noise which carries on going long after you have turned the engine off.

When engine turned off it sounds like someone blowing across a milk bottle, and yes there is smoke even when switched off.

I park on the road, where a lot of pedestrian traffic passing to the local school, and get a lot of people knocking on the door saying your car is making funny noises/on fire.

But in the middle of winter when you spark it up, hit the heated seat and heated windscreen, all the insults from the "wet elbow" defender brigade seem to fade away!!

Comes into its own when you fit the timer or remote control options.

Do a search of the freelander forum for "fuel burning heater".

Cheers
