Hi All
I have a Td4 02 Auto
A strange thing I have never heard before,The car has not moved and the engine is cold I turned the ignition switch on to check sun roof was working ok and the engine fans came on is this normal as I have never heard this happen before.
As it is the wind deflector on the sun roof came detached and when I looked the plastic lugs that hold it in place are broken. Is it easy to replace the lugs that hold the sun roof deflector.

Thank you.

the fans issue isn't normal, but not necessarily a cause for concern unless it does it a lot.

Mine has done it maybe half a dozen times in 6 years, no rhyme or reason.

I think if the ecu loses the signal from the temperature sender, it turns the fans on just in case.

They do make a bit of a noise though at full chat.

Hi Thanks for reply Optimus Prime.I will keep a check on it,It just seems strange I only noticed it when I opened the sun roof which has not been open for some time that's when I found the wind deflector holding lugs broken.
Thanks.

Also....Did you have the internal blower on and air direction set to windscreen by any chance? - the radiator fans run in this setting for a/c to assist demisting.

Hi
No everything was turned off.I know about A/C and windscreen the only thing was the sunroof did not close because of the wind deflector then I noticed the wind deflector was up and when I removed the deflector the sunroof had to have assistance by hand to close.
Thanks

Hi, You could try removing the sunroof glass, you will get a better look at it that way ;) ...I've only removed the glass once to get mine down when it was stuck open - fuse removed for now;)

the deflector lugs are not hard to do but the thing that holds the deflector down is the roof its self ,they just ledge under the lip of the roof.

Hi All
I will have a better look at how the lugs are held in,why do they make them out of plastic but at the moment it is something that will have to wait. The sunroof is closed at the moment and I have got A/C.
As for the fans I will keep a check on them and I have not got FBH.
Thanks everyone for replies.
