engine stops when indicator is turned on

didnt think it could ever get this bad, i turned on the indicator and the engine cut out, i then disconnected the battery and removed the indicator fuse and the engine started

put it all back together and fault came back some times the rev counter doesnt work or goes funny

am thinking i need to replace the indicator stalk, do i need to take the steering wheel off first?

is there a video anywhere for indicator stalk removal and cleaning

i think the indicator is causing immobiliser to stop the car, hazzards flash fine

Have you checked and cleaned all the earth points?

What year, engine etc?

cleaning earth points is way beyond my ability, so had a look on the net and of course just cause you turn the indicator on does not mean its the indicator

i did notice when i banged the ignition switch it worked

so after reading about it on the net i replaced the ignition switch and so far it works, (i did replace the indicator but it did not help, so i put the old one back on)

worth a go given the cost of a professional testing earths wires etc

The dealership would call this a safety device of the car.....[emoji54]
