I'm looking at an 02 GS 1.8 from a local garage tomorrow but they say the electric windows don't work. Does anyone know if this is likely to be an easy fix? I've a background in electronics so know my way around fault-finding etc... and the first thing I'd do is grab a Haynes for it. They're likely to knock a couple of hundred ££ off the asking price if I'll take it as-is.

Thanks in advance.

Of course, as a newbie myself, it was the first job I had to do. is it all the windows, or just one? Are the regulators working and its all making a noise - then its the cables, 10-15£ off fleabay.

Maybe the button for all the windows is at fault?

sounds a bit odd if all are not working I think more of an electrical problem but you know how to test for that being into electronics .

Thanks for the help. Turned out to be the same wire cable on three of the four windows frayed and snapped. The garage is sorting it before we pick the car up on Thursday.

I've got a q&a about the windows, is there a separate feed for up and down? As after extending my switch wires to the arm rest from center console my passenger window goes up hopelessly slow and sometimes stops, now it worked fine before I moved the switches, but when extending some wires pulled from the plug while stripping them, so as the window now goes down very quick and up very slow could I have got them the wrong way around..?
