well yesterday i was on my way to work and the flippin eml light kept coming on and off again.

it was stuttering like hell and i presumed it was the fuel filter as i had been running it on svo and it had cleaned out all the crap from the tank, it had been getting smokier all last week.

anyway it was only putting it into limp mode when loading up the engine.

So i replaced the fuel filter last night and i thought it was fine

got in it this morning and the flippin thing was on permanently. I presume I might need to clear the fault by flashing the ECU (disconnect battery for a bit)

that or its something more sinister! DOH!

ive got a td4 , but sorry to ask in case youve already done it, is the fuel pump ok and u say youve cleared it out could the new filter or lines possibly have crap in them

just a thought

well yesterday it was intermittent and on the way back i brimmed the tank with fresh diesel and a smidge of petrol to try and help clean things up a bit. It seemed to help as the light was coming on less and less by the time i had gotten home.

however this morning it was on solid.

i think the fuel pumps ok as it started fine etc. ? I could of course be completely wrong :)

any way of testing em or is it just a replace and see if it works job?

really must buy a hawkeye....

Would be worth checking the contacts. From memory, not much illuminates the MIL on the L series.
A Hawkeye would be the way to go.

ah maybe i have caught something, i was working around there installing the heated fuel filter so maybe i have pulled out a wire or something.

good call!

daft question but is this called a manifold absolute pressure sensor can a bad vacuum pipe affect this ????

also got a hawkeye and swear by them, is there anyone near u

fixed it!

turns out i had routed the synergy cable badly and it had shifted and touched the turbo... melted and short circuited... DOH!!!!!

disconnected for the time being and all is well with the world again.

ill have to rewire it to see if the unit "survived"
