Hal fords site is being updated. I looked at that via goo gle search to get past the barricade and also mac hine mart. I don't see anything I like in mm which is a shame as I've started buy stuff from there a year ago. Hal fords have one I would buy out of the options from those 2 shops.

I use a challenge 11amp automatic charger from arg os which is no longer sold. It has the option of charge, then trickle charge once charged. Also standard or gel batteries.

Think I need to find one on Amazon. Cash poor but gift voucher rich this month.

I'll have to check. I got the picture by waving the phone under the car. Not a lot of clearance for my big head!

Just crawled under and they are crimps. Does this suggest anything?
Mine doesn't have crimps in the pic's I posted above. Mines got some sort of protective sleeve. don't know if there's crimps in the sleeve. If yours hasn't got the sleeve then I would assume at some point it's been disconnected and reconnected. Could be oft road damage or eggsource removed for some reason. Perhaps investigating faults.

Goes into a black sleeve a couple of inches after the crimps.

Would hawkeye be able to show live data from the sensors?

I haven't been able to get to the other sensors yet to work out if they are the cause of the exhaust fumes.

Hawkeye does display info for the sensors.

I'm guessing:
B1 = bank 1 sensor
B2 = bank 2 sensor
US = upstream
DS = downstream

Freelander 1 v6 HawkEye v5 Diagnostic. Engine Computer Live Data. Engine Off and Cold

Freelander 1 v6 HawkEye v5 Diagnostic. Engine Computer. Live Data Engine Warm On Tick Over

Freelander 1 v6 HawkEye v5 Diagnostic. Engine Computer. Live Data at 60mph Engine Warm

Rave ses:

The correct operation of the catalytic converters is dependent upon close control of the oxygen content of the exhaust gas. The quantity of oxygen in the exhaust gas is monitored by the Engine Control Module (ECM) using an input from the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) upstream of the catalytic converters. The ECM also monitors the condition of the catalytic converters using an input from the HO2S downstream of the catalytic converters.

...now if only there was anyone with Hawkeye in the wastes of Hull.

Just found this on another thread from Nodge68:

The V6 has 3 O2 sensors. There is one in each exhaust manifold and one behind the cat in the exhaust system. The sensors in the manifolds are what the ECU monitors the mixture with. The post cat sensor is there purely to monitor the function of the cat to comply with some Eurocrat regulation!!
P0138 is bank 1 sensor 2 which means it's the post cat sensor. It's failing is'nt going to stop the engine running as it's just a monitor sensor.

So the one marked as failing is the one on the exhaust that I got the pic of.

I wonder if the sensor outputs are passed through to OBD... That would be too good.

If you watch 1 of the video's above you'll see the full list of v6 engine data displayed by the hawkeye. You may see what you need.

My hawkeye is going to have v7 software soon so I will compare that to older versions to see if we have updates for the Freelander 1 v6 engine data..

My wife has just mailed to say that the rear window of the Landy is open and that it is raining. Nice to get the fish tank refilled :rolleyes:.

Hopefully it will be dry enough to charge the battery a bit in situ (-ve disconnected) and get it to start. Then it can go under cover and battle can commence.

First item on the agenda is to find the source of the exhaust fumes in the engine bay.

Only 20 minutes of dry weather. Enough to get a small amount of juice into the battery and shut the rear window. Cargo bay carpet sopping. So no change there.

Need an hour of dry on Saturday to get her started and put away. That's not too much to ask.

It's in the garage at last. I have about 2" all the way round to work in so I think a tidy up is required.

When I was moving it in I thought the VCU was locked. Turned out I had the handbrake on! In my defense I have been driving an XC70 with electric brake for over a year.

Sounds rough at idle. Hippo, do any of your youtube clips have decent audio of a V6 idling properly so I know what I'm aiming for? I do need to find where the exhaust is blowing fumes into the bay from first.

This was filmed underneath with the engine guard oft. Can't remember if the engine was warm or cold at the time. It will echo a bit more due to the camera being underneath and the engine tray being oft. So you get a more characteristic lumpy sound. Yours will sound rougher when running in the garage due to echo.

Mine would sound lumpy in a field let alone a garage.

Just the exhaust leak I think, which is good. I'll crack on with that this week. Still hope an O2 sensor has come out.

Oh dear. Coolant level has dropped just moving the thing into the garage. I noticed that the level was low and topped it up to Max (well just above) and not it is below.

No mayo, no oil in the water.

Thermostat housing first (cheapest?) thing to look at first?
