Hi All

I thought I would post to say hi and start a thread about my new Freelander. Really looking forward to collecting it on Saturday, it’s a 53 plate TD4 HSE auto so pretty well spec'd and the auto should help a little with the muddy stuff:D, its a fairly high mileage car with 103k on the clock but only one owner and full LandRover service history up to 4k ago so should be pretty sound.

I can’t wait to start upgrading bits a pieces, I’m not planning on anything crazy but will be collecting parts to add over the coming months and will keep the tread updated as i go.

It looks like a lot of knowledgeable people on here so will be great to get feedback and advice as i go.

Here are a few pics from the dealer, I will get some more once I collect it!

that like mine only mine is a 06 td4 hse until I started to bling it I will try and post a picture later

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, cant wait to collect it now, praying for some snow over the next few months. I had a little fun in the snow last year in my Jimny, it never struggled once however it did have insa turbo special tracks on so that made a big difference, it will be interseting to see how the Freelander copes.

IndiTd4 where abouts in Kent are you?

Ashford mate..

Ashford mate..

Your pretty close then, have you tried out any of the green lanes locally, I have done fair chunk of the ones local to me and around Maidstone area but not really ventured down as far as Ashford. My Jimny was not the fastest car in the world so it would have been pretty painful driving down there to then do a day driving lanes and back.

That makes you fairly close to me.

Yes not too far at all if your in Croydon.

I collected the freelander on Saturday and have been very pleased with it so far. It has a couple of little niggles that I want to sort out, mainly the paintwork and interior but that's nothing a good going over with a buffer, some interior cleaner and elbow grease wont fix.

Some of the paintwork on the interior door handles has also scratched off so want to look at either replacing or painting these.

I also happened to notice that the heated screen only cleared patches of the frost the other day and not all over so will need to take a look at that and see if anything can be done with that as and when.

All in all I am super pleased it runs great and has already pulled its weight with a couple of tip runs today!

Now time to start seriously looking for some mods for it :D ECU remap and egr blanking first I think!

I had a bit of spare time today so got the buffer out and gave the bodywork a good going over, managed to get most of the swirls out the paintwork with cutting compound however there are a few scratches that may need a bit more work. I has come up pretty well with a good waxing after it all, so will provide some good protection from the winter weather and mud.

Time to get it muddy now I think :D

Not bad result considering the crappy paintjob they have! I used to get a mirror finish on my 98BMW cab with really sharp reflected edges due to the good flat paint.

Gave mine a wash yesterday, which comes under the banner of "annual maintenance" in my house. Problem was my daughter turned on the "daddy can you please wash my car to", and I caved and washed her Starlet as well - which was unfair cos the boy's 220 Turbo needed a good clean as well - so did that. Ended up cleaning three cars and it was 32 degrees - knackered.

Still, even though the Freelander's knocking on 15 years now, she scrubs up well. Nice to have 4 shiney alloys as well :) Needed a break after all that, so took the dog for a swim down the "Selwyn"....
