oh dear this isn’t going well.....
ok, freelander 1, central locking, if i press the buttons on the fob i can hear the locks/actuators clicking in each door, but all it does is switch the alarm off, i have to open the drivers door with the key, and lean around to open the others.
but on leaving it will lock the doors, but not open them again.
tried a new battery and the 5 press to reset no different. any ideas?

I'm not sure about that ?
For all door latches to fail is unlikely. It's more likely to be the btu that controls everything or a fault in the fob circuit.

Unless you know something I don't about the wiring/operation of the central locking. Then since the latches click when trying to unlock and lock (using the superlock motor) then that is why I suspect the latches and not the wiring and/or CCU.

Only way to be sure is to arm yourself with the wiring diagrams and a multimeter and test the system.

Ah but they only click on unlocking, they do actually lock which made me question if they are faulty.
You are right, the only way to be sure is to get a meter on the wiring
