In The Process Of Buying A Freelander Td4 And Need A Few Answers. The Dealer Told Me It Doesn't Need A Cam Belt Change As It Has A Metal Chain Link Belt Instead. I Know This To Be True On A T Reg Fiesta But Dont Know About A Freelander. Any Ideas? Do All Free Landers Come With Hdc And An Electric Tail Gate Window? What Comes As Standard On The Es Model On 2001 Reg? What Is The Mpg Like On The Td4?

Perhaps the very early base models didn't come with HDC but I've never seen one without it. Certainly your 2001MY will. Rear window - yes.

• Half leather heated seats (hhmmmmmm, nice)
• CD player

MPG is mid-30s to low 40's depending on what you do with it. Good engine.

Not sure about this, in the past I had an Opel Manta A also having a chain and did about 186.000 kms with it, afterwards a Mercedes 190E and did over 200.000 kms with it, both without having to change the chain or to do whatever of maintenance on it, there is a tensioner on it in case there is too much play but never had to do whatsoever, this Td4 being a BMW M47 engine I don't think it will ever need replacement or special care.
