Hi all,
since Ive had my 2000 FL millenium edition, the rear speakers have been making a hideous 'farting' noise when the bass is turned up full. On further investigation, the noise appeared to be coming from under the boot floor. There is a cover which is screwed down with 8 Torx. Removed said cover and lo and behold...2 x 10" bass speakers, and I think some kind of amp. All neatly packed in, with pro wiring and plugs. Sadly all sopping wet with condensation, and clearly not working properly.
Can anyone tell me if this was standard fitment for this vehicle.
Any further info would be appreciated.
Cheers, Russ

Having dried it all, and reconnected it...one speaker not working at all, other making horrible noises. Will probably ditch the lot, as its quite a useful storage space...:D

make sure it is condensation and not water ingress from door as ive had a similar problem and found door and rear window needed adjustment

It is a standard fit on later models. I have a 2005 HSE and its got sub-woofer in boot and an amp under the passenger seat. I don't know when they first started putting it in or on what models.

It seems a shame to ditch it, as I found a sticker bearing the LANDROVER logo, and a HARMON KARDON logo. Will investigate further, and see if i can fix it. I guess it sounds quite nice when it works properly? Also found HK logo tucked away on the front tweeters.

Seems to be some variation as to how the Harmon Kardon system was installed. My 2003Td4 Premium has a system similar to tonyt37. A power amplifier under the passenger seat and and what looks like a single sub in the boot where the underfloor toolbox should be. In my case the lid is just held down by dzus fastners but the speaker is enclosed in a hard polycarbonate box. The speaker itself is a dual voicecoil model, I am not sure if its to increase the drive or to feed the two channels independantly. The curious thing is on the Rave disk it refers to the door speakers as high and mid range but makes no reference to the low range (sub) connections. Even the cct diagram shows the header but no speaker.

Thanks all...The system works fine without the bass speakers, just a bit lacking in the bottom end, if you know what i mean!!
So i guess the 'amp' is merly some kind of powered crossover? It seems to be a stereo system, there are 2 x 10" (or maybe 8" (not measured them yet) speakers, supplied by 2 separate sets of cables.
Cheers, Russ

Does anyone have the specs of the two subwoofers, as i think i'm gonna try and get it working. There is no mention of the system in the owners manual, and no specs stamped onto the speakers either. :confused:Cheers, Russ
