Hello everybody sorry for not introducing myself my name is John I work at LHR as an aircraft refueller and have been there for 11 yrs and spent about 6 yrs on the catering trucks beforehand, I've owned this 2002 TD4 for about 2&1/2 yrs have also been in the trade having run a mobile car/van servicing workshop until the taxman caught up then it was back to full time employment the problem on the TD4 started about a month ago when it started to get longer & longer to start and then I decided to do something about it, have checked quite a few posts regarding bad starting and what I have done is listed below. Have just gone out to start her up again after about 48 hrs temp. here in Sunbury is about 60' fah. and it took about 7 seconds of cranking before she would start I then stopped her immediately and waited about 5 sec and cranked again and she started in about 2-3 secs once started she runs fine having done about 143k miles no smoke no smells good acceleration and fairly good economy for driving around the London suburbs between 35-45 mpg, its just the bad starting that is the problem, again what I have done sofar is listed below any help would be most appreciated cheers John.

Have got to crank and crank the motor and even then sometimes it still will not start have replaced Firstly g/plug relay no difference then fuel filter no difference then glow plugs and bled the injectors by cracking open the delivery pipes and it started ,I thought voila I've done it but have just left it for 3 days and have just tried to start it and here we go again crank crank and then it started, I stopped it and then started again and she fired up is it possible that the fuel is draining back to the tank, not sure if there would be an anti-drain valve in place any help most gratefully received JT

Right, before someone not as nice as me comes along pop into the introduce yourself section give a breif into about you and your car :) the natives are happier to help when they know abit about you.

maybe look for 12volts at the glow plugs ;)
