Hi I hope some one can help
My td4 auto has a intermittent fault when hot and in auto or manual and it selects 4th it looses drive some times then drops down to 3rd or lower !!
When it selects some gears does not seam as smooth as it should be .
I have checked fault codes using a t4 = none
I have done a resistance check at the ECU = using auto range multi meter
Pin 17 to pin
3 =003.6
4= 018.7
18= 003.8
15= 018.7
14= 019.0
52= 018.0
53= 019.5
10=018.8
16= 014.6

Pin20 to
39= 1.083 aft temp 34oC
5= 0.606
24= 0.605
21= unable to get any reading at all ?? Intermediate speed sensor ??
If this is faulty why does it drive ok cold and only affecting 4th ??
Hope this makes sense to some one ??
How easy is it to change the sensor ??
Thanks

What year is it? The intermediate speed sensor failed on some Jatco's. Later auto computers ignored the signal from the intermediate sensor. We assume the sensor wasn't fitted on later Jatco's. This could be the reason why yer int got a resistance on it.

Have you checked the barrel connectors are tight together?

An auto oil change can do wonders and solve all sorts of strange faults. If you try this then make sure you follow the correct procedure and don't undo the wrong bolt.

HI update this morning while in outside lane doing 70ish
gear box went into limp home f4 hdc amber light
fault code p 1748 2/4 brake solinoid fault ? any one know which one this is and the part number ??
thanks

Hi, I know this is an old post but my Freelander is displaying very similar symptoms. I am in the process of replacing solenoids and was wondering if replacing the 2/4 brake duty solenoid resolved your issue?
