Auto box won't change up

My auto TD4 has developed an alarming habit of not changing up north of third. If you slow right down so that it goes back to first it will sometimes clear. But sometimes you need to stop and shut it down for a minute, then it is ok. Any clues ? PS the box fluid got changed a couple of months ago.

Solenoid problems?

Look up Hippos post on testing the solenoids.

Mine did just the same a while back after going through some water. It wouldnt change up beyond 3rd. I took the 2 barrel conectors apart and there was obvious water across the terminals gave it a blow out solved it instantly.

Where would I find the barrel connectors ? I did go through some fairly deep stuff recently. The problem I have seems to be intermittent, I had it yesterday, but did 60 odd miles today and no sign of it.

The connectors are infront of the auto box take the intercooler hose off gives you better access. Mine was a bit intermittent if you set of gently you could move up the gears but if you set off normally you could only get to 3rd.
