Anybody interested in a batch of smaller more compact back boxes...?

I've always found UPS/DPD/City Link to be good, they're the three that I usually use, apart from when sending to Oz where TNT work out miles cheaper!

Fitted this evening. The original twin pipe dustbin was pretty rotten on top. Had to use a nut-splitter to get the old clamp nut off, then liberal application of wurth rost-off to freeze and lubricate the fixing bolt into submission. A few wallops with my favourite number 1 hammer and it was off.

I'm going to crack the old box open, as a brief spin with the new box shows loads more low-down pick up. Something must have been blocking it, be interesting to see what.

Several of us have reported better low down pick up, due to the straight through nature of the box and no baffles. Turbo spins up quicker.

It won't be blocked per say, but you will wonder how it's possible to conceive a more restrictive design.
They are designed to be quite, nothing more.

Hi Ses88
Old thread I know, but am looking at a new back box on my My2002 TD4 3 Door?
Are you still able to supply these?
Cheers

Not an old thread, still current ;)

Yes can still supply, about 5 working days lead time following payment. Drop me a PM if you want one, £160 inc postage. Got another guy after a box, so can sort out 2 at the same time if you want to go ahead, makes my life easier.

SES88 - got mine today. Looks great! Really good work, nice smooth weldings :) Heavy! Will have to get a new U-bracket tomorrow, then "away with the old, in with the new"!

Finally fitted mine today. After an hour of serious bad language, banging my head and a good healthy dose of spanner rash, I got the old one off. The top of the old box was like a tea bag so well overdue a change. New one went straight on no problems. Totally agree with previous comments about better throttle response, probably due in no small part to a happy turbo!! :)

I fitted mine as well, lots of trouble getting the old one off. Used a piece of wood to lock the long exhaust pipe, so I could wiggle the old back box off. Did manage, also used lots off WD40. Cleaned the end of exhaust pipe with sandpaper, then greased and tried to get new back box on. It wouldn't fit. Ended up making two more slots in the new back box connection piece, managed to get it on, but now it's not completely sealed. It's fitted ok and securely enough, though.

Thinking, since you all had no problems fitting the new one, that my exhaust pipe (the long one) has been changed between car being new, and I getting it, to some aftermarket and slightly thicker??

That said, the new back box sits higher and more securely under the car, a little deeper sound at idle and low rpm's. And it looks good :)

Need to place an order for more of these, any further interest in them? I know a couple of people messaged about them for the end of January, there's a 2 week lead time anyway so that would take us into February.
