Hi,

Been looking at my Vac lines yet again and noticed (with the engine running) air being blown onto my hand new the vacuum tank. It's coming from hole!

This hole with the blue arrow pointing to:

Mine doesn't have that clip anywhere. I know this is before the MAF but will it still cause any issues? Should I block it?

Cheers.

probably ain't the only hole
mines got some at the back of the air-filter box ..
assuming they're to drain any water

This hole is in about the middle of the air box. That would leave plenty of water in the air box.

My Aircon pipes don't run anything like those in the pic above. Just wondered why it was maybe left like that? Surely any hole in an airbox would draw in hot air/heat from the engine and hamper the combustion efficiency?

mine was forcing out air

going to block it tomorrow the intake system shouldn't have holes in it loosing boost pressure when driving as the air has somewhere to escape

It won't be boost pressure it's losing. The turbo will be sucking air from the Air Filter not forcing it out.

Unless it's somehow linked to the crankcase breather?

Good to know that I'm not the only one with it blowing out from that point. Would a plastic clip really seal it fully though I wonder? Maybe designed like that?

I could be wrong, but on that side of the air input, I doubt it will make any difference.

Biggest problem is the ones going from the turbo/EGR/intercooler. If one of those has a pin prick or a split, you will get lots of black smoke due to wrong mixture and a loss of power. Ie the power of a normally aspirated Diesel engine.
