can anyone shed some light on this problem, I have just renewed my freelander's front disc's & pads, everything was ok light wise before this change, now I have the 3 lights on the dash, abs,tc,hdc! - Im thinking that I may have damaged the n/s front abs / wheel sensor as the disc was solid on the hub & took about 45 minutes batting the disc with a heavy mallet to get it off, due to a heavy build up of rust on the inside of the disc which goes over the hub, could this have damaged the sensor & caused this problem - the freelander is a 51 plate 1.8 version, cheers Sean

ps, I have checked the brake light switch as some have mentioned that - switch is ok !

check the sensor air gap and for damage, it is possible also rust is in pickup rings

Hi, I will do that in the morning, also just read on here, that I could have dislodged a wire under the centre consol, as I also just renewed the handbrake cables !

I'd think it was highly probable that damage was done to the internals of the ABS sensor after mashing the disc , especially as there was no apparant fault beforehand.
Get a digital multi meter and unplug the abs to loom connector situated down the side of the battery ( you may have to unbolt the securing bracket and move the battery to the side to gain finger access ) and check the resistance. It should be circa 950 ohms.
If it's open circuit , zero , that's the culprit.
You could also check the toothed reluctor ring that is visable at the very bottom of the hub inside by jacking up that wheel off the ground and turning to ensure the ring is intact , free of build up of muck between teeth and solidly attached to shaft and not spinnning freely.
Good luck .
