Hi
Have noticed a metallic clunk when selecting 2nd gear, could this just be the clutch going or something more expensive. All other gears appear fine.

IM diffo no expert but i have the same problem an was told i need new rear diff mounts, a local lr specialist could atleast confirm that for you or get it up on a lift or stand an check the rear diff mounts to see if there ok, hope that helps mate, check my previous post for what others said about my problem, good luck, rich

Hi
New Rear Diff last march, plus all new diff mounts, swapped the drive shaft for 2nd hand unit that was in better condition this march, replace the rear LH half shaft around the same time (new). Metallic sound now happens in 2nd, 4th & reverse. And more recently under heavy acceleration when trying to pull away fast !! ? could still be Diff' mount but can't get any movement, I'll get it check any way.

So when you say 'selecting' - is that when you select the gear, or lift the clutch?

The noise appears to be when the gear lever goes home in the gate as if its banging against something, wounder if its linkage or somthing.
