Mems 3 ecu and allsorts of malarkey involved dude:)
For no real benefit neither

If as mine has now the later coil pack engine, if I just want ted change the inlet cam to remove the distributor and use everything else thats already fitted to mine would it then run ok. Dont want to just drop the engine in for the reasons you have given but surely minus the distributor and using all my own stuff already fitted to my engine it then converts it to a coil pack engine or am I missing something stupid why it cant be done

Anything is possible if you have the motive!! There were differences to the sensors and a few bolt on components but there were also some other engine changes. The oil rail could well be the older type as could be the head gasket and dowels.

It can be done especailly if you have all the bits to swap over:)
As well as the mechanicals you would also need to change the ecu.

This may need lots of reprogramming of keys fobs and making sure all necessary sensors etc are connected.

My point, a lot of fuss for little gain.

Do it though if you want to :) it aint my car or time
