Hi.

I have searched the LZ and Google but [U2 mode on] I still haven't found what I'm looking for [U2 mode off].

A supposed back-street LR specialist not too far from me has got a Disco 300TDi Safari Limited edition "coming in soon". Now I was down there today just browsing and I saw the thing come in, but seeing as I was just getting my daughter in the car to go home I didn't get chance to have a look at it...... now I know garages charge the heaven AND earth for their vehicles but this looked real nice and the price wasn't too bad, blah blah, must resist trade sales, blah blah..., but what extras does the Safari edition have to make it Limited edition. Its a '98 model with 200k on the clock (FSH) so its caught my interest but I can't seem to find to find what LR have chucked on it aside from an A bar :confused: Any help would be greatly appreciated as I may go look tomorrow morning and it would be nice to know what to expect.

Cheers.

:)

Aye no worries, believe me I can take it, but I tried Search with no revlevant results, must have tried wrong key words (even after an hour and half of reading various threads), I'll try again.

Cheers.

Specs taken from an ad for one

This last of its kind TDi 300 discovery is a safari limited edition. Finished in metallic Highland Green with contrasting sahara cloth interior. Fitted with all the right bits including air conditioning, exclustive alloy wheels, side steps, 7 seats, CD changer, tow pack, front a bar with extended light pack, remote locking.

I'd already spent ages looking on Google tonight aswell and apart from a Safari edition from 1999 for sale on some Trovit site I seem to be at a loss with info. I'm well aware its going to be just LR getting rid of the last few models and chucking stuff on it to clear the warehouse prior to the TD5, and I'm also clear to the fact that special editions aren't always good value or money, but they seem to be so rare that limited is actually a viable phrase for once.

Cheers.

LR rolled a load of these so called special editions most with jockanese names Argyle been one of them. and they were basically sprucing them up so they could get rid before the td5 was launched.

Don't believe the specs you read on the www.
The Safari was introduced in June 1998 and consisted of 1,100 vehicles based on the seven seat Gs model, the colour was Epsom Green, other than the extra internal stuff the external kit was the soft (A) frame and foglamps, rear door mountd ladder, roof rails and chrome finish running boards (side steps) gear boxes were manual or auto on the Tdi and auto on the V8i.

You aint kidding, before I bought it I had a specialist 4x4 place look it over, and they couldn't believe their eyes, in the end had two of them searchin for rust, only place they could find any was the rear step, and a little in the rear door shuts, nothing a bit of wet & dry couldn't sort. Well happy. Only thing it's missin is ABS, which I realised the first time I braked hard in the ice :eek:, still takes me back to the good old days before all the fly by wire fancies my company motor has now :) :)
