Wrong engine oil help

Mate put the wrong engine oil in after head gasket change on 95 300tdi could this blow the head gasket, any suggestions

no way what oil did he put in,they will run happily on alot of different engine oils

what kind of oil and type/weight

not sure he got it from work for the lorrys the have now has 15w40 but got smoke coming from the middle of the enging by the scuttle and is running very rough and has no power in low revs

did he
a) overfill it?
b) pour it over the exhaust?

No over fill or over the exhaust was ok before oil change

did this all start after a head gasket change?

If it did, did you use new head bolts,did you tighten the bolts in the correct order? and with a torque wrench?

head was torqued up correct with old bolts and in right order run ok for 2 days then **** after oil change

there's your answer old bolts. They bottom out in the blind holes in the block give you false torque won't compress head gasket going to leak 95% OF THE TIME go cheap get cheap results, didn't save any money did you

so would the gasket be ok if i change the bolts

is it worth the 20 quid to find out?
