wheel bearing spacers

having stripped front hub due to collapsed wheel bearing on 300 tdi disco,was a bit of a pig ended up putting another hub on,anyway when i went to put on circlip at front couldnt get the two spacers on behind the clip,got the circlip on but there was no freeplay on shaft to allow for spacers to be fitted,everything seems to be tight there is a bit of play when you lift hub up dont know if its through the shock or not,is there something i have overlooked with the hub to get these spacers to fit or will it be ok to run without them... not road tested it yet cos battery is flat due to goofed glowplugs
