brought a 300 tdi today, drove fine for first 23 miles the loss of power and then cut out, following on from that struggled to start it and again after 50 yds loss of power then cut out.
i have never felt this bad about a car ive brought, what the fook is wrong:mad::confused:

guess its fuel filter and lift pump filters next, tried to get the sedimeter off but cant budge bolt on the top, carnt do owt til next weekend now. i gotta motor i cant use

Are you on the right bolt,it is an 11mm spanner-ring spanner best-do not undo placcy drain on bottom, they shear off.
If you want to try without sedimenter ,run a placcy pipe from tank(stuff it down fuel filler) or from a bottle of derv to top pipe on lift pump-then crank her over-should see pipe fill with fuel quickly, then she will fire

so am i ,undo front banjo on injection ump and work lift pump may need engine clicked over to get pump off cam and see if plenty of good clean fuel come out ,best place to bleed system as well,if not check filter ,lift pump .sender unit in tank under plate in boot floor pipes often rust ,too bad and air can enter, i usually bypass sedimentor at this point by undoing passenger side pipe and putting 8mm rubber hose on with correct size hose clip and joining to pipe on inside of the two on chassis in front of sedimentor

guys, im liking these replies, they are filling me with hope, unfortunatly tis getting dark now and back at work for another week, please keep responses going, im on it first thing sat morn.
once again thankyou for your generous feedback, its so muchly appreciated by a novice like me, but im gonna get me hands dirty:crazy: and then im off for a:beer2: or four

Doesn't sound much wrong to me-if not just the fuel filter, maybe new lift pump as well, all bits are cheap-and you should be running again quickly-they do die suddenly if filter gets clogged-carry spare with you once sorted

Yup ditto that, just wasted a weekend to find out my new britpart lift pump was sucking air (diaphram holed)but only intermittently.
