Hi all

the bearing in the front cover that holds the viscuous fan hub is shot on my 300tdi, stories on ebay lead me to think that this bearing is as common as chickens teeth or rocking horse poo.

Whats the best repair - a slightly different bearing from the guy on ebay for £60+ or another cover inc bearing for £100 odd??

Or is there another fix that i dont know about???

I want to try and get it done before it colapses totally and the belt comes off.

thanks all

dave

I think you'll find that the cheapest option is to just remove the fan altogether. I'm not sure I have read about anyone on here replacing the bearing, but I may be wrong.

i thought id have a look got brg out 38mm in diameteror 11/2 inches 47 mm long with spigot on end to take flange looks like the old water pump brg of a series but with only one spigot what are the ones on ebay like

Hi Dave for this sort of thing I go to a local-ish (60kms away!!) bearing supplier. He measures up and supplies me with whatever I need.
