Looking for a bit of friendly advice, I'm in Dubai so constantly very hot anyway.

1999 Disco 1 V8 3.9 with 98000Km. As soon as the engine is switched on the viscous fan is running and it runs all the time whether the engine is up to temperature or not.

Does this cause any problems other that the annoying noise?

Also the temperature guage always heats up very quickly, usually 2 minutes to reach normal temperature which is just under the halfway mark... Is this normal?

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Kevin

Well before the **** takers come on.
A viscous fan is bolted to the engine so therefore will run all the time just as it should.

Not quite true Ruffday, the whole point of a viscous fan is that it is de-coupled so that it is only fully connected and running when needed.

Hello Kevin.

You should be careful about asking daft questions on this forum, you will get either ignored if your lucky (probably the case here) or just taken the **** out of.

You have no overheating problems but an engine that is already hot getting up to temperature fairly quickly.

I'll let you work it out.
