Sounds like ignition amp put Meter across coil and crank-look for switching

Go back to basics first. Check all leads are properly secure - all HT leads, coil + and - Ignition amplifier plug.

Pull the king lead and then crank it over - is there a spark? If no check connections to coil and ignition amplifier. If yes, then pull a plug lead and see if you get a spark - if no then rotor arm.

If you have sparks in the right places, then check connection on coil Neg - you might be losing your fuel injection trigger pulse.

The other thing to try, assuming you have sparks and fuel is slacken dizzy clamp and advance it up a bit while somebody cranks the engine over, have had to do this a few times over the years but it works. then check ignition timing.

If you go in to the V8 section and do a search there is lots of info about non-starting issues and rough running. HTH

Yup +1 it's only there to stop any interference to the radio.

Iv just looked and the coil that the garage gave me is a valeo not lucas could this be the prob
I fixed my RRC with a cheapo coil 2 years ago, so probably not. But I'm no purist and I've not the luxury of easily accessible oem parts here in Merka, so I've not experienced the "Lucas is better than the rest" thing like others here.

Not say it isn't, though.
