v8 d1 miles to tank ?

I own a disco 1 3.9v8 auto,
Im planning a trip up to manchester at the weekend, thinking of taking the disco due to the weather at the mo, instead of my girlfriends mg tf,
Will prob end up doing around 400 miles in total,

How many miles will it do to a tank ? Ive had the car a couple months but only use it for laning and short trips to work so the mpg is really bad,
I know these are not gud on fuel but an idea of miles to tank on a long run would really help !

I drove from Bournemouth to Manchester in a RR Classic, had 31x10.50.15 Tyres and with overdirive, still cost me £80 and I was sensible with the go pedal.

Cruise at 60mpg and you should be able to get 20plus mpg so as Nathan says a tankfull eachway.

round town my 3.9v8 auto D1 gets around 13mpg, on a run doing a steady 55-60mph with 33inch mud tyres on it manages 23mpg.

my 3.5 (which is now in good tune, but with 33 inch tyres on) cost about 40 quid each way to abersoch from manchester, i reckon.

thats 140 miles each way btw. i worked it out to be 7.65 gallons at 115p per litre, and that comes out at 18.3 mpg. fuel is dearer now, but it gives you an idea

Between 6mpg and 17.1mpg. only managed the book figures ONCE.

Thanks for advice, it did 350 miles to 100 quid , might have done more but did a couple short journeys up there, il have to work out the mpg

19.7mpg if petrol 1.25p a litre.

That's not a bad figure, would have cost you £60 ish in the MGF so for the extra £40 I wouldn't chance it with this weather.

You could burn that in heat to keep warm while waiting for rescue.....asuming the headgasket dont go pop first.

Yeah not bad, it has a slight manifold exhaust blow, nt been serviced for a bit,
Really impressed with it,
Mgf costs bout £65, so nt much more, try telling the gf that though, thats another £40 towards a shopping trip !

£35 is a no brainer when you consider how much fun there is getting stuck in the snow in an inappropriate car.
