Hi guys!

First of all, sorry for my bad English.

I have an early Disco II Td5 and I need to change its front coil springs because they are sagging. They are the stock ones (REB101340 both sides since it's a LHD).

Now, I'm not looking for big lifts or anything like that but, since the springs need to be changed, I thought it might be a good idea to install some uprated springs from the facelift Disco II. This way it would raise a little bit, small enough to allow me to keep the stock height shock absorbers (which are in good shape). I'm expecting something like a 1.5-2cms lift.

More precisely, I’m thinking on the yellow/orange coil springs (REB000350) or the pink/brown ones (REB000490), but the last ones probably will make the ride too uncomfortable.

What do you think about that? Is it possible? What kind of height increase, if any, I can expect? Has anyone tried to fit this uprated springs designed for the facelift Disco II in an early one?

Please do notice that I don't have winch or any kind of heavy equipment installed, just the original A-bar. Also, I know this may be an almost insignificant height increase. But, since I have to change the coils, I would like to obtain this small lift in order to, for example, have more flexibility to fit bigger tyres one day.

Cheers!

welcome.

I've put pink/brown on mine gave about an inch lift, but it was well down from standard due to the winch bumper (no winch) steering guard and dual battery set up.

I rides speed bumps a lot nicer as it used to bottom out before, it is firmer but I'm also running old man emu shocks rears being heavy duty.

I fitted britpart 200kg springs for the rear of my Dads Disco as it's quite heavily loaded all the time with tools and stuff and got 40mm lift springs for the front. Sits pretty nicely now on 265/70R16 tyres.

Also have heard of people getting uprated springs for the rear and fitting the standard rear springs on the front.

Thanks!

It gave about an inch lift compared to standard or from what you got before (lower than standard due to extra weight)?

I'll get some pics up of my Dad's Disco tomorrow.

Have the 2" 200kg springs on the back and standard on the front and sits pretty well as it's usually heavily loaded with tools. Have 1.5" springs for the front too but not sure if I'll fit them yet as it seems to have settled nicely on the rears alone now.

Thanks Dave! The problem is I have standard syze tyres (235/70R16) and it will look pretty bad with that kind of lift. Also, I cannot raise so much its back because my garage is quite low.

Rear suspension is decided, i'll fit the standard airsprings (and calibrate it to compensate the possible front lift). My question is really at front. I would really like to fit it with the uprated springs (probably the REB000350 ones), but since I can't find anything about it, i'm not sure... Maybe its too risky.

But still, some pictures of your dad's Disco will be nice.

Personally if you don't want to lift it much, I'd just fit some bigger tyres as they will give you proper extra clearance and not mess with any suspension geometry at the front too.

Will stick up some pics later though :)
