evening all,its a common question/problem but mydisco2 td5 of three weeks has just developed a driverside list.it has no issues drooping, being a fiddler i checked the level sensors and air bags the good side responded when manually moved but the driverside had no response.
could this be the sensor at fault and can they be changed without calibration at a dealers?

Yes it could.....if u disconnect battery and then replace both sensors u might avoid calibration......but it could be other fault too....if u dont want to spend money in vane u can do the following experiment... swap the air supply valve connectors within the compressor housing....if the symptom will move on the opposite side it's the sensor or the driveside air supply valves command/feed... if not there is some problem with the driveside air supply valve.

come back with the outcome and we'll see what to do next

morning, couldnt look properly to day, raining, bolts that hold the compressor tray are seized in and rounding behind the plastic, would like to remove it to look further.
all is spotless inside, found a fuse blown to air system, replaced and you can hear the compressor working periodically and when the engine is turned off.
one thing that is apparent is it does not seem to rise up in off road mode, how long should this take?
measured from the centre of the wheel near side 430mm and offside 410mm and staying the same when in off road mode. i get the flashing light when selected and the bongs when going over 20mph but no rise.
any ideas?
worked on and understood citreon suspension but out of my depth with landrover air set up,the rest of the disco is ace and very pleased with, steep learning curve ahead i think

hi again....the ECU must be "bewildered" a bit cos i think one sensor gives it Orm input and the other one normal height input thats why it gives mixed outputs to the compressor....swap the sensors and see what happens......imo replaceing both sensors will cure it.

hi sierrfery thanks for that i ve got two sensors on order at the mo ,when they arrive ill disconnect the earth lead fit them and that should be that, incedentally i found the near side sensor cracked where the bolt goes through, so they both will be replaced.
thanks again, update soon.

in the meantime dont use it and disconect the battery. or your compressor will burn itself out trying to correct the height. Then it gets expensive?? If your sensor has split thats the problem. hope this helps

afternoon all, recent update, height sensors arrived today, fitted them with the earth strap off, original ones cracked around joint and lower thread split and blown out both sides.
but still wont rise to normal height and orm dont seem to respond,
any ideas anyone?checked the fuse and found a nice home made mod,a paperclip, what have i brought?
would hawkeye or nanocom show the fault?

morning,i agree it is, they all work on self check and go out when its started.
im hoping the bodged fuse was due to having no fuse at the time, ive put the correct one in and after two days it has not blown.
played again this morning, took the compressor cover off, started the engine and checked it ,it was running fer about 30 secs then shut down, tried orm and nothing happened and compressor not running, seriously to buy hawkeye or nanocom to read codes, what do you think is best out of the two?

Are you aware that all doors and bonnet need to be shut for the system to operate correctly? So I usually work through the drivers opened window.

morning biglad, thanks but alas i have tried it through the window but slill no joy, even thought about faulty door switches but the interior lights are out so im assuming they are working ok?there are no warning lights on,apart from 30+mm difference and orm not working i think ill just keep driving it till something further develops.

Don't mean to be funny, but you do have the engine running when you press the ORM button?

afternoon biglad, hot at all yep the engine is on at the time, took out for run to day and see another disco2,mines def sitting to low, thinking could it be air bags?

Well from my ltd experience I would say replace both bags if you are losing height, but if the height is consistent, albeit low, that would suggest either new sensors needed or a recalibration or both.

Hope this helps when this happned to mine the body had sunk as low as it can it was then i discovered that both bump stops where missing wich meant down below its lowest perammeters so i jacked the the back end ie the body up on my highlift jack then the suspension came up then let the body back down then hey presto sorted. i then stuck on 2 new bump stops.

afternoon pat, thanks for that ,checked it again this morn settled overnight even lower both sides, though more equal, non existent bump stops sounds familiar.
tried what you said, jacked it up {looked good whilst jack was under it} but would not raise, cover off compressor, runs for 15 secs and shuts down, tried orm mode, engine running doors shut and nothing from the compressor, done the soapy water test nothing found, air springs seem solid but it still wont raise.
still its keeping me fit cycling to work

Hi Steve
At this stage you are going to need a recalibration probaly at landrover or whoever if that dosent work a new compressor ???
