Turbo noise

Hi there, when driving my disco 300tdi, i can hear the turbo is quite loud compared to others i've been in. It also sounds like there is an air leak or something coming from the manifold area. Im replacing the full exhaust anyway and will do the manifold gasket at same time, just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how to fix it.
Just to mention it does seem a little underpowered especially going up hill.

check all the vacuum hoses for leaks.

Umm, yes a littile. As i say, it's more of a lloud whistle, i think it may be a pipe that has split. But not sure what to check. Not very good at mechanics, lol.

bollox. if you were local I would say put the kettle on!!!

you need to get the the lines pressure tested to rule out any boost leaks.

check all the hoses aswell.

a light whistle is ok but a dentist drill isnt.

Nah, I'm sure if you are capable of fitting an exhaust and manifold gaskets, you can find a split or a leak

Check all the rubber hoses between air box and fanimold, also the line from turbo to injection pump.

My turbo started to make a progressive whistling noise over a couple of weeks,a few months ago....bottom inter cooler hose split at the inter cooler...replaced hose and had a quiet turbo...dead easy to fix...as stated,check all pipes physically even if they look OK..

Hi guys, just a quick update. Took pipes off as suggested from intercooler to turbo, etc. Found a split on a bottom intercooler hose.
So, ordered replacements off ebay for £20, fitted today and problem solved. Turbo quiet again and the power is back to normal.
