Hi all
I have a TD5 on a 51 plate, I have very kindly been given a tow bar but I need the electrics, firstly is this easy enough to fit and secondly where can I get hold of the wiring at the best price.
Many Thanks
Mark G

Assuming N type socket, you need STC50081 for the genuine LR part.

Fitting is simplicity itself, there's a socket behind the drivers side rear light cluster, you plug into that multiplug, route the cable, and it's done

Put STC50081 into Google - should be around £40.

Just out of interest, how is the £40 genuine part different from a £8.99 socket off of eBay (for example: MAYPOLE 12N PRE-WIRED 7 PIN SOCKET TRAILER CONNECTOR on eBay (end time 26-Feb-11 09:26:53 GMT))? £31 for the connector to plug into the car electrics easily?

Seems a bit of a rip off to me....

The only difference is the connector on the end of the seven core cable.

Easy enough to solder to plug behind offside rear light as above poster

say's. The light on dash will work ok. So yes, save yerself £30. ish.:)

Ratski.

Mine had no tow bar so got complete kit from Autobars Bradford (good lad to deal with is Stewart) and found what wires went where and used scotch locks to connect to loom at back of drivers rear light and the dash light works ok.As has been said save yourself £30 roughly 5 gallon of jungle juice.

Loosen the rear right lamp unit, and pull it out.

Get a bit of string and tie a washer to one end.

Lower the washer down the hole behind the lamp unit.

Jiggle it up and down and eventually it will pop out somewhere under the car.

Tie the top end of the string to something so you don't lose it.

Tie the trailer light PLUG to the washer and wiggle it back up to behind the light unit.

Untie the washer, and push the trailer light plug into the empty socket.

The End.

I went an independant guy, Whoooo its a right pain doing them disco's, gonna cost ya.
Contacted a mobile tow bar fitter job done in 15 mins £30.00 to include a relay for the caravan.
