my disco has a temp sensor in the head, 300tdi 1996, i'm doing an engine change atm an the engine i'm fitting has no sensor fitted, was wondering if anyone has any ideas if i need this temp sensor? will my disco be fine without it?? thanks guys:confused:

If your existing engine is EDC ie with the temp sensor in top of head and you fit a non EDC with fitted injection pump you will need to convert the throttle operation to cable instead of fly by wire.
The temperature sender for the temp gauge is fitted in the head near the front on the side not as above in the thermostat housing.

cool my disco has no edc (that i'm aware of) it had a throttle cable'd injection pump on already (the one with the 3 wires outta the top) fitted new engine yesterday an going to go connect up pipes, wires an other bits shortly,i'd been toild already by a geezer the sensor in the head was for the EGR so was not needed just wanted clarification from guys in the know...... ty ...... my last engine threw a rod on pot 4 went with a reet bang
