Hi, don't know if anyone can help me, i've had my '99 Td5 for about 18 months now, its aways done this but seems worse lately, when its stationary and you take the revs up slowly, at about 1200rpm it starts to missfire, all the way up to 2000 rpm and then its sweet as a nut. 1800 is its worst point, and the throttle seems to have a dead spot until 2000 and then its sweet like i said. Much better when its warm. I put a genuine airflow meter on 6mths ago, and its just had a new injector loom' although its showing signs of oil in the fuse box, (oil on relay pins). I should mention that its NOT noticeable when driving at all! Any ideas please? I've had 2 different chips on it and want to get it remapped properly but would like to make sure this missfire is'nt going to cause any problems that might affect the remap. Any help on this will be much appreciated, or do alot of them do it? Many thanks.

Unsure what you are asking, is this from cold only, as the 5's only have 4 glow plugs and do run a little rough until warm. When cold and bonnet up on mine 1800 rpm the engine does shake a little , is this what you mean?

Thanks for the replies, no, this is a true missfire and if it was glow plug related it'd surely run rough at idle aswell, its had 2 different chips because the first one did'nt really alter things much, it was a DPT box that piggybacked into the fuel temp switch, the second one which is still fitted is a TUNIT box which piggybacks onto the 5 injector wires at the ecu. Much better than the other power wise but has its own issues at low revs, i've got the Tunit configurator on my laptop on which i can alter the parameters, (spoke to Tunit, they gave me the limits), you can alter flatspots but not remove them. Quite frustrating! So, i've decided a 5 Alive remap is the answer, do it right once and for all! Would just like to sort this annoying no load missfire out first! Perhaps the remap would cure it!?

hello td5 i have the same probe starts first time every time stutters like made when revving freely up to 2000 but does get better when warm but still there don't really notice it when driving. i have had mine on diagnostics nothing i have changed MAF sensor and manifold (MAP) sensor, have had new injector loom no oil in the ecu, disconnected the erg no difference, checked the waste gate actuator still no difference, and now im stuck on ideas, just wondered if you had sorted it???
