TD5 Stainless Steel Brake hoses

I recently had an advisory note from my M.O.T. regarding a rear brake hose which was showing signs of perishing.

I have a 1999 Disco TD5 with rear air suspension but occasionally greenlane so use the offroad button to raise the rear suspension.

I'm considering replacing all the hoses with stainless steel braided hoses but wondered if anyone can tell me the size I need.

Basically will the standard length hoses work when the offroad suspension is active or do I need the 2" extended hoses to allow for this?

Also, any feedback (positive or negative) on the stainless steel hoses themselves would be appreciated. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Here you go

One bit of advice,

DON'T SKRIMP!

false economy on braking parts - get quality ones goodridge or similar
buy cheap and they fail, you have no brakes

ok sermon over, sorry but 2 tonne of discovery with no brakes is not a pleasant thought

if you haven't lifted it "standard" will be to replace standard hoses, lifting it on air suspension is a standard feature

Other than that get them too long and you could end up catching the loop on a rock or branch off road

i would check steel brake pipe from front along passenger chassis top and across above rear axle as these are more likely to let you down especially in mud traps

Ta for the advice guys. A set of standard length hoses it is then. Was looking to get a set of Goodridge pipes anyway as they appear the best value (from Famous Four).

I'll check the metal pipes next time she's up on the ramp (which probably won't be that long away). Must do fixes in the pipeline are brake hoses, injector harness and ride hide sensor (currently held on with cable ties). Being a desk jockey most of these are a challenge, but with the help of you guys I've fixed the fuel cooler leak, egr blanked and replaced the rear air springs... so if nothing else I can follow instructions :).

Thanks again for the replies.
