:confused:Wondering and hoping if anyone can help me. My Disco TD5 broke down on my wife last week...she phoned me saying there was a whining noise coming from the rear of the car!!!
Anyway, l went out to the rescue and sure enough the noise was coming from the fuel pump, and it wouldnt start.
Got the disco home and l took a look at the pump, which was still making this weird noise, and decided to replace it. Got the new pump today and replaced it, but the noise was still there, and under the bonnet the noise was there also, around the FPR area, and she still wouldnt start.
Now, my question is.....is there any way to adjust the fuel pressure as l think this is the problem, cant see any leaks around the FPR.
Need this fixed as the wife's naggin me non stop:doh::Cry: cheers

Because it's not leaking does'nt mean the FPR is working. Mine was leaking but still functioned ok.

There are so many threads on this.

Check/replace fuel filter first.
Check the wee gauze filters within the fuel filter body.
Try running the air purge routine (the missus might have run out of or very low on fuel.)
Then consider FPR or Injector seals if all else fails.
