today whilst off road my auto gearbox whilst ascending a hill just gave up! and the car justr revved up! M and S flashed and i rolled back down couldnt see any problems?

just thought it might of over heated? left it 30 secs and then drove off it worlked fine apart from it makes a sort of grinding?sucking noise!

got back and there is oil coming out of the top of the gearbox sump?

anyone know what is on top of the sump thats ****ing out fluid?

are you sure its not coming from cooler pipe and running along sump seal shouldnt leak unless perished or breather blocked to loose drive either oil shostage ,one way clutch failing or clutch burnt out check oil for black colur or burnt smell

im not sure withou dropping the box but as far as i can see it was coming from on top of the gearbox and something gave under pressure?

so im not sure what is on top of the box above the sump that could give way?

There is no oil at all on the passenger side of the box it's all on the drivers side of the box? Is there any sort of seal/gasket on top that could of given up under pressure?

Yes that would make sense either that or it built up a lot of pressure and that was the inky way out!
