Hi everyone,

Could any one help, on my TD5 series II the ACE unit is leaking. I have been told that the chance of a repair is slim as the threads have a tendancy to stripping and a new box would be needed, but at over a £1000 it's too much.

From reading this site, people are talking about converting to shocks and springs to save cost. would I need to change the rear air suspension ???? If not cool, but then where is the best place to get the kit for the front ????

Also with taking out the ACE and pipes would I need to change the top up tank to a single tank for the steering box ???? plus what about the pump. Would I need to remove the pump and fit a smaller belt, if so how would I know what size belt to get.

Sorry for all the questions at once, any help would be grateful

Kind Regards

Martin

since not all have ace you could get parts from good breakers or new engine belt and idler as in non ace disco ,and non ace roll bar, spring conversion is upto you but gas shockers will improve handling

Recently binned ACE on mine, your looking at about £300 in parts, that would include new anti roll bars and bushes, Non ACE-idler pulley and belt to replace the pump and to program the car to tell it ACE is not fitted anymore.

You have to make sure you get the correct roll bars for NON ACE vehicles as coil V air suspension have different roll bars.

As far as the tank goes, there is no "need" to change it, just empty the ACE side and blank it off.

Interestingly enough vehicles without ACE have twice the amount of PAS fluid than vehicles with if you do replace the bottle.
