a td5 1999 with rusty holes

hi guys
i cant believe it have i brought a crap td5.in my time ive owned a 86 range rover a 90 county and i currently run around in a old 93 tdi range rover which ive had for over ten years with no problems along with all my other land rovers.then came the td5 a few months ago to replace our small honda 4x4.it all started with suspension problems then master ,sevro and caliper needed replacing and now the first time the car has seen rain under our ownership the thing leaks like a sive i found a hole about 3inches above the drivers door gutter and another small hole top courner wind screen seal so thats got all the headliniging wet ive got water coming out of the top seat belt holes where the adjusters are and the worst hole is next to the bonnet hinge on the bulk head this hole is quite large so i got wet feet and a very wet floor over the weekend too.i find all this very bad as this car has been in spain for around 6years in the dry so why is this car so rusty.im just waiting now for the rain to stop so i can start trying to fill these holes .its a lovely car to drive just thinking ive made a mistake or waiting for someone to say mines got rust too.

Sorry to hear of your problems, the only leak I've had from mine was the usual sunroofs problem, which was cured by removing the headlining and sealing the frames with silicone.

thanks i wish it was just the sun roof i stiil cant believe this of a car only 11yrs old .andy

Hi no mine was just the sunroof aswell so think yours has had a hard life in salt air or its been a cut & shut

From what you descibe it sounds as if the car has had a very hard life, certainly shouldn't be full of holes unless at some point its been subjected to sea water ingress. I take it the holes were well bodged up when you bought it ? as for the other failures all point to water damage. Did you buy it in Spain or UK? Was it from a dealer or private?

the car was brought from a dealer and its only had one owner who brought it over from the uk about 6yrs ago.he brought it new from shires which i now believe is guys in coventry.ive sent them an email to see what they think and waiting from the dealer in spain to get back to me.i took the plastic trim thats at the bottom of the screen of yesterday so i could get some sealer in the hole at the bottom corner of the screen.i can only think the previous owner could have had a roof rack on as its strange there are holes in the gutter above the frount doors.so buy the sounds of things ive not got a very good td5.andy
