Probably best to leave your sump plug in all the time because if you take it out, you'll lose all your oil....
I assume you mean wading plug, if so leave it in but if you do any wading take it out asap to drain any water out, you will need 2 by the way.

Sump plug? it's wise to leave them in all the time.

Wading plugs - They can be left in. Landrover recommends removing them every 6000 miles.

There's no mention of wading plugs in a D2s owners handbook so perhaps the OP doesn't need them as D2s have a timing chain, just like my D1.

You will find a threaded hole in the bell housing if the D2 has a wading plug and then only if it has a manual gearbox, but still no mention of it in the handbook.
