Been having the odd issue with the V8 taking a while to return to idle when stopping,so decided to clean the stepper motor.Whipped it off, blasted it with carb cleaner, spot of GT85,new washer and refit.Hand tightened, and then set the torque wrench to 20Nm as prescribed by Land Rover.First feel of any tension and CRACKKK....

Anyone else had a really brittle thread?? A friend who is a tinsmith at Airbus looked at it and reckons its really cheap cast crap!

wht do it with torque wrench it only needs nipping so it seals and dosent come loose ,hollow threads are allways best done by hand especially 10 or more years old

When I removed and refitted mine after cleaning (I thought it was about time after 12 years) all I had was a large adjustable spanner, so as soon as it bit into the fibre washer that was it, it was tight.

Looks like there was a flaw in the thread casting was it original and genuine ?

Not sure if it was genuine,if so it was 16 years old,and maybe shagged anyway.Either way its lightened my pocket of £66 for a new one from Paddock(which I presume is not genuine)as I was quoted £160 for genuine!
