Ok so todays problem, I have begun to notice on cold days the steering feals strange, heavy like the pump is lazy or simaler to when the belt slips. It is hard then easy to turn the wheel, then hard again, not smooth and constant the resistance. I notice this is worse to the right then the left and does not return to centre, this makes steering unpredictable. There is no sound of a strugling pump or belt slipping and the fluid level is high. Any ideas, worn out pump or perhaps steering damper. It semas to of got worse when its cold (i live in norway). Does anyone have any tips on what it could be? Thanks in advance for the advice, Cheers Jim

Check track rod has not bent a bit and is binding in the bracket under the diff, damper worth a check take off and move in and out by hand.cheers.

I've had similar on a RRC.
It turned out to be one of the UJ's on the rack, the one right next to the steering box that had partially siezed. It was worse when cold, but kinda loosened up when warm. So about £15 later and some spannering it was replaced. steering was ultra smooth by comparison afterwards.
Might be worth checking them?
